Behold, Wonder Woman beating the crud out of an octopus god!

Author Brian Azzarello’s Wonder Womanhas been one of our favorite books of the DC Comics relaunch, what with its profoundly creepy take on Greek mythology and the Olympic pantheon’s political machinations.

And in the latest issue of Wonder Woman, the heroine is caught between the blubbery, tentacled Poseidon and the candle-headed death god Hades. Courtesy of DC Comics, here’s an exclusive five-page preview of the weirdness.

This issue, artist Tony Akins gamely fills in for Cliff Chiang, who you may remember drew the Japanese Justice League. I really enjoy Akins’ Cerberus — a three-headed hellhound isn’t something I’d normally describe as adorable. Wonder Woman #6 comes out next Wednesday, February 15. Here’s the plot synopsis:

Wonder Woman #6

Covers by Cliff Chiang

Hades and Poseidon both have designs on the kingdom their brother Zeus left behind, but Wonder Woman doesn’t intend to let their turf war decimate the realm of man! It’ll take a big lie and some help from the mystery man known as Lennox to stop a holy war from breaking out – but what does Lennox know that Wonder Woman doesn’t?
